Born and brought up in Mumbai India, Gino Banks grew up surrounded by music and started playing drums when he was only 8 years old. By the age of 9, he was touring Australia and China with his father, Louiz Banks' band, SANGAM, an indo-jazz fusion band, playing percussion for them.

Gino is currently recording and touring with his band MaMoGi with Mark Hartsuch and Mohini Dey.

A versatile musician, Gino performs and records with artists and bands of all types of genres. Some of the artists he gas played with are Louiz Banks, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, the late Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Rashid Khan, the late U.Srinivas, Pt. Vikku Vinayakram, Sridar Parthasarathy, Sanjay Divecha and Karl Peters, Fazal Qureshi, Taufiq Qureshi.
while doing Bollywood sessions and gigs with A.R. Rahman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Salim-Sulaiman, Vishal-Shekhar, Amit Trivedi, Pritam, and Hariharan;
He has also performed with fusion groups such as Crosscurrents, SILK, ARKA, Niladri Kumar, Rakesh Chaurasia's RAF, Ravi Chary Crossing, Mekaal Hasan Band, Ananthaal, Dhruv Ghanekar, Amaan & Ayaan Ali Khan and the late Bala Bashkar;
as well as pop/rock/blues bands like Indus Creed, Blackstrat Blues, Soulmate, Gary Lawyer, Sonia Saigal, Baiju Dharmajan, Suneeta Rao, Skinny Alley, Joe Alvares and Shefali Alvares. 

He has performed with international musicians like Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Mike Stern, Guthrie Govan, Tony Lakatos, George Brooks, Leni Stern, Angela Hagenbach, Carl Clements, The Maske Trio, and more. 

He has also worked with dance troupes like Pt. Birju Maharaj's Kathak Group, Aditi Bhagwat and Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company and many more.

He has also had the honour and privilege of playing a few tracks on the Miles From India Album produced by Bob Belden, which was nominated for a 2009 Grammy in the Contemporary Jazz Category with Times Square Records, NYC. The album is a fusion of Great Indian Classical Musicians and Miles Davis Alumni Musicians.

Despite being an in-demand musician, he finds time to work on his own music as a composer, and also to collaborate with extremely talented musicians like Sheldon D'Silva, Sangeet Haldipur, Satyajit Talwalkar, Rhythm Shaw, Kush Upadhyay, Mohini Dey, Mark Hartsuch, Ojas Adhiya, Stephen Devassy, Ghatam Udupa, Rahul Wadhwani among many others.

He is also a producer, arranger and runs his own studio production - Double Shift Productions, which specialises in recording drums. 

A big advocate of music education, Gino, along with his wife Eden runs various music education platforms like Algorhythm Drums. Gino is a Head Faculty at the Artium academy, an online music education platform. He has also served as an advisor and senior faculty with the P.G. Garodia Conservatoire, Furtados School Of Music and the NMIMS School Of Performing Arts. 

Gino is an in-demand educator and conducts Drum Workshops, Clinics and Masterclasses.
